Tell us a bit about yourself (put your bio here if you have one)
Throughout his life, Josh Adams was interested in music. It all began in the mid Eighties, as a young child, listening to his Mother's 7" and 12" Bee Gee's, Kool and the Gang, Cyndi Lauper, Madonnna, Depeche Mode, Tears For Fears, and other various Synth Pop and 80's Club music LPs.

This influence was with him into his teen years, when he discovered Industrial/Rock music such as Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, and :wumpscut:. Josh picked up a guitar when he was 14, emulating bands like The Smashing Pumpkins, Marilyn Manson, and Silverchair. His interest in Electronic Music was sparked at school dances when the DJ would play Corona's "Rhythm of the Night". Snap's "Rythm is A Dancer", and various titles by Real McCoy and Technotronic.

It was at these school dances when he was exposed to The Prodigy and the Crystal Method. "It's hard to find good music when you're living in Northern Vermont." He says. "The radio is full of cheesy Pop music, Country, and Classic Rock. Industrial, Electronica, House, Trance and Techno music wasn't something that was readily available to me until college."

Once at school, Josh met many different people who influenced his musical tastes. "I used to go out to a lot of keg parties and house parties, and that really introduced me to a lot of stuff I'd never heard before." It was during one of these particular benders that he received the nickname Spaz, "which for the years to follow might as well been my real name," he says, laughing. "I also discovered Trance around the same time, and the name and the music became somewhat synonymous... I became so obsessed with EDM that I not only began to seek it out, I used to express my obsession by saying things like, 'I wan't to exist within this music, I wan't to become it,' and 'This music is the future!' The thing is I really DID! I got really into it."

It was at this point where Josh began to frequent Raves, and became obsessed with something more than just the music. He began focusing on the DJ, and was intrigued by the power he had over the dancefloor. "It was so unreal to me, that one person could have so much control, over the music, the people... I just got such a rush thinking... That could be ME up there! I began to formulate all sorts of ideas about what a DJ actually does, that it became clear to me that I had to try it out for myself."

In 2001, Spaz picked up a pair of cheap turntables, and a decent mixer. Influenced heavily by Industrial, Metal, and Punk music, he gravitated towards the Harder sounds of NRG and Hard Trance. It wasn't until he saw Misstress Barbara spin a set of pure, hard, raw Electronic Music that he decided to play Techno, and that's where he found his niche. "She was so good, it just blew my mind! I'd never experienced anything like it."

I forgot! Those "boxes" that are out front on the video are a set of Percussa Audio Cubes from Belgium. They activate specific clips in Ableton Live wirelessly. Crazy shit.
