Say what? House music all night long!

Been around since the birth of the rave scene in NY and started DJ'ing on and off for about 11 years. In the beginning I was blind to the fact my performance directly reflected my personal outlook on life. After taking notice, I ascended and experimented objective DJ'ing.
This new experience was extremely hard to grasp when mixing for diversified people who are mindful, free spirited, single-minded, mindless, conformed ("could you play something with words that I hear on radio?"), intellectual, logical, heart felt, professional, artistic, young at heart, political, etc... I gave up on DJ'ing after letting numerous vibes die out from those who wanted to listen to radio (which I don't play).
Finally after 3 years of dust collecting, I pulled myself together and took some offered gigs. Quickly, the same situation manifested and the robotic "radio" people where back in face. The only vinyl in my crates were house, breaks, techno, trance, and a short stack of hip hop promo's I set aside and had never played before. So to appease the crowd, I dubbed them over some house tracks while mixing the instrumentals. Since I didn't have any popular hip hop tracks, I handed the mic to some bboys I noticed and we started freestylin with freshly laid down hip-hop beats. Astonished that hip-hoppers and I got along, I found myself playing every other Saturday from midnight to the break of dawn.
This settled into a huge monthly event hosting more and more people to come. Being the only event of the like in NY, the vibe was well respected and served as the only local NY trip-hop culture converting radio fiends into underground trip-hop and electronic house junkies.

HOY! Fico! Where you been man? Hey thanks for the comments on my track "Ride Or Die". The vocals are getting a mixed response... some are hating... some are loving so I guess it's on me to decide and the problem is I am liking the track with the lyrics so I think I am gonna leave them in. But thank you for taking the time to listen and comment!
